Can you train unconscious bias out of a person? How to write a sure-win offer letter? Did the NZ Police just release another hilarious recruitment video (yes they did and you should definitely watch it)? And a treasure box of sourcing tools. Check out what we else we’ve found for you this week!

Enjoy these musings!

But really, is unconscious bias training effective or ineffective?

Author Michelle Kim reckons businesses are only too ready to ditch all D&I training at the first signs of challenge. We think there might be some truth in it, otherwise there would have been more progress – yes/no?

A treasure box of sourcing tools

It’s certainly quite the treasure box from Martin Freeman. Neatly categorised and wide-ranging from the more popular ones such as Hiretual (ATC2018 Innovation Lab winners) to relatively unknowns such as Phantom Buster (anyone?). Definitely check this out.

How to write a job offer letter (+ free template)

Is writing job offer letters often an afterthought for you? This is often the last interaction your candidate receives before making a decision and how your approach could swing the result either way. Check out this useful article from Google on how you can nail that letter (or email) and get your candidates excited about accepting that role.

LinkedIn on steroids

Post-event reactions from LinkedIn Talent Connect 2018 are aplenty and here’s an interesting post from Yvonne Bowyer. Are we seeing the first steps towards an end-to-end, integrated recruitment solution? Josh Bersin has also written a comprehensive blog on this. What are your thoughts on this version of LinkedIn “on steroids”?

The kiwis have done it again, LOL. We won’t say more – enjoy!

Google apparently hired the Night King from GoT to pitch Chromebook

There’s also a blog post from the Night King, White Walker recruitment orientation slides and an overview of tools these undead warriors use. It’s getting real!

The highs and lows of taking a career break, as told by you

If you are considering it, or just daydreaming about it, hear from six people aged 25 to 60 on their motivations, lessons and advice.
